The community, with an investment of 1 billion yuan (158 million U.S. dollars), has renovated houses, improved living facilities and 14,000 residents now. Zhejiang, located on China's eastern coast, launched a project in 2003 to overhaul the living environment of villages. The province has made constant efforts in the past 15 years to improve the rural living environment, creating "tens of thousands of beautiful villages."
