LONDON, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- English Premier League side Chelsea on Wednesday confirmed the signing of American international midfielder Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund in a deal with 57.6 million pounds (about 72 million US dollars).

However, Chelsea fans won't see the 20-year-old playing for them this season as he has been loaned back to the Bundesliga leaders until the end of the current season.

Pulisic has scored nine goals in 23 appearances for his country and has 10 league goals in 80 appearances since joining Borussia Dortmund in 2016.

His performances had captured the attention of several Premier League sides this season, with Chelsea swooping fast to capture the signature of the player who can either play behind a central striker or in a wide role in midfield.
